The chief executive of a group representing private school headteachers is set to succeed Dr Tim Coulson at the Unity Schools Partnership academy trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 40-school trust has named Dominic Norrish as its new CEO after long-term boss Coulson left to become director general of the\u00a0Department for Education\u2019s regions group<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norrish \u2013 who will move into the position in the new year \u2013 said he is \u201cexcited \u2026 to play a role supporting the brilliant work done by staff\u201d across the trust\u2019s secondary, primary and special schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having trained as a history teacher, Norrish worked in classroom and leadership roles in a number of state schools. He was a member of United Learning Trust\u2019s executive team for 10 years, working as its COO for the latter half of that period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 93 schools on its books, ULT is England\u2019s biggest trust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norrish is currently CEO of IAPS, a headteachers’ association representing 650 independent schools in the UK and overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unity\u2019s board highlighted his \u201cwealth of experience and deep commitment to the organisation\u2019s core values\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trust chair Chris Quinn also thanked \u201ceveryone who has provided support and leadership during the recent interim period<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
