Mainstream schools will get a share of \u00a31.6 billion over three years to boost inclusion, while another \u00a31.8 billion fund aims to provide better access to external support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ahead of tomorrow\u2019s publication of the schools white paper,<\/a> titled Every Child Achieving and Thriving<\/em>, the Department for Education<\/a> has set out how it will spend around \u00a34 billion over three years on its reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ministers have made increasing inclusion in mainstream schools a central pillar of their proposed reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today they announced plans for a new \u201cinclusive mainstream fund\u201d of \u00a31.6 billion over three years. It will be paid directly to schools, early years providers and colleges to run targeted and small group interventions at the \u201cearliest signs\u201d of additional needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This would equate to \u201cthousands of pounds extra every year on top of existing core SEND funding\u201d for schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is not clear how it will be allocated, but splitting it evenly between all state schools, nurseries and colleges would work out at around \u00a326,000 a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The government has said it will also fund a new \u201cexperts at hand\u201d service, with \u00a31.8 billion over three years to create a bank of specialists like SEND teachers and speech and language therapists in each area that schools could then draw on for support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\u00a31.8bn to boost expert availability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
